Morning fellas,
Got to finally pick-up the bike from the dealer on Saturday. About 5 minutes after leaving the dealer from winter storage, I noticed both the engine light and battery light were on. They stayed on for about 20 miles, then shut off. I plugged the battery tender in as soon as I got home, and it took a really long time before the light went to green(charged state) probably 12-16 hours. Voltage gage was weak when I left the dealer, but it went to over 12 while riding back home. The battery is the original, 5-6 years old, never given me any problems. Just checked HD on line catalogue part # 66010-97C for new one at $251.00 Canadian...WOW. Any guesses ? is the battery cooked ?

Joe, at 5 to 6 years old I'm assuming that's the OEM battery? Your running on borrowed time. I'd replace it.
I got 7 years out of stock battery but, was the exception not the norm. Getting 5-6 years out a battery is average and instead of buying a Harley battery why not look for other options. I heard Deka batteries are vendor for Harley.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I've been looking at some of the aftermarket options, one of them being Yuasa Batteries. ? Anyone here have any experience with them or have used them before? I know I shouldn't be a cheap skate as I got 6 years out of the factory original, but $251.00 before tax for a new HD is hard to swallow. I just spent a sh%t load of dough over the winter, should have had them throw one in at a discounted rate lol...
Thanks again,
Thanks again for all the help. Didn't realize East Penn Manufacturing had a division here in Ontario, Canada. Called them up and asked for the " ETX30L", said it was back ordered for 2 weeks. However, gave one of their distributors a call Napa Store and my lucky day...last one in stock and on sale $139.00 plus tax came out to $158.00. Considering the dealer(HD) wanted $251.00 plus tax for OEM model. I've heard very good things about this EXT30L battery, hopefully it fits in the OE location without a hitch. Still can't believe the difference in pricing over the HD oem battery.
Thanks again,
Joe98, I recently replaced my 2007 streetglide battery with a ext30l and it fit just fine. Batterymart has them for $99.00 with free shipping. good luck and safe riding.
