I personally like the look of a 21" on the front without lowering it, gives it that longer front end look to me.

Do whatever you like, its your bike. But for me, I definitely do not like the stock front end height with a 21, looks very unfinished and has an awkward raised front end stance. Same with not running a matching rear wheel, again, looks very unfinished.

Here is my awkward bike with a 21" at stock height. It looks good to me but I build my bikes to ride, not to look at. I am personally over the lowered bikes as all that does is decrease ride ability in my opinion. I'm the guy who put taller shocks on my FLTRX. Most people would never consider that.

Regardless wheels are visual thing and no matter how you do it a bigger front wheel will always greatly impact the looks of your bike.

My advice on lowering the front is put on the wheel first and ride the bike to see what you think. If you feel you need to lower it after that do. Changing the front suspension regardless of height will always make a huge difference in how the bike rides. I put in mono tubes at stock height. Had I not done those I would have done something like intiminators or Race Tech emulators and stiffer springs. If you lower and put a 21" wheel at the same time it is difficult to know what has done what to the handling characteristics as you changed two things at one. If you have a shop doing the work then it makes sense from a labor perspective but I still like to feel the difference each item makes.

As it is with the mono tubes the front fork dive is gone and the bike rides much better. The stability is greatly increased.

Here's a picture with the bike at stock height. My signature picture displays the bike with it lowered about 1.5 inches. It's all about personal preference.

Most people opt for matching rotors as they really enhance the look of the wheel but they are not necessity. Some people get nice tapered chrome axle spacers too as the stock spacers are rather drab and boring.

But nothing else is necessary, just the wheel and tire. Our wheels all come with bearings pre installed and included in the price unlike Harley Davidson whom sells the bearings separate so they can then sell you the labor to install the bearings at the same time.

If you have questions please feel free to PM or call us as well.
