Default Factory installed siren antenna

My antenna comes out of the siren and loops around the battery compartment twice, then the last 4-5 inches are just loose under the seat. Should i secure it and does it need to loop around the compartment twice. Can I shorten it? There is nothing on the end of the antenna wire. It just looks like a cut wire.
Is that how it is supposed to be?

Never looked at one older than a 2010 touring. It had no antenna wire at all. Just the rectangle box about 3/4" square and 2 inches long right in front of the battery. Range is only about 10 feet. You can cut it about 1 inch from box and see if it works. If not you can solder it back on and put some heat shrink on it. It is only receiving so won't cause a problem other than not working. Can't imagine why would need to be so long. Not that way on 2010 up I know. The siren and antenna are also separate on the 2010 up bikes. Not sure when this started.

Default You mean the antenna for the pager?

Mine is the same. I ran it along the top of the frame around the battery and just covered it with the velcro strap it cane with. Works pretty well too. My pager can read the bike from the basement of an apartment complex up to the 3rd floor
