I just installed the following on my new 2014 Limited: A Fuel Moto X pipe with full size crossover pipe, Fuel Moto Hi-Flo Air Cleaner Kit along with a Power Commander V. The bike runs great with noticeable power increase. I like that part.
Now the problem. I had SE Street Cannon Mufflers installed when I bought the bike. They sounded great with the stock head pipe. Now without the cat, they are way too loud.
Has anyone else had this problem & how did you improve the system. I don't want to lose the performance but I am afraid most slip-on mufflers are made for use with the stock catted head pipe. I re-installed the stock mufflers just to see what they would sound like. They are quieter but I hate the sound. I would like to fix the problem with new slip on mufflers rather than installing a new system or putting my old OEM head pipe back on.
I looked on the Fuel Moto web site & they have quieter 4" mufflers but it says they were tested using the stock Harley head pipe.
Any suggestions or advice will be appreciated. Thanks
I had Python Predators (made by V&H for Drag) on mine with the stock header, it was perfect. After I put on the Dresser Duals I couldn't stand the noise. The Pythons had open baffles. I bought V&H Monster Rounds (have closed baffles) and it sounds great.
A set of CVO mufflers made all the difference for me. My ears are shot from years in the wind and loud pipes (tinnitus). Now I wear ear plugs all the time and it helps. Once you get over the need to have those sweet sounding pipes at idle, many more possibilities open up.
