WOW, you have really bitten off a lot of work. I wonder what other problems are lurking inside given the condition of
the exterior. With all that rust the electrical system could really give you fits. Good luck and keep us posted.

I would get it running well & safe, then leave it as a rat bike

Why was it parked outside so long? Costly to fix the chrome, all the hardware. I hope that engine and tranny are strong.

Good luck and I have no doubt it will be on the road soon.

I wish you good luck. But where in the hell did the previous owner keep that thing in a river? That's a damn shame that someone let it get so bad. I don't understand why people spend so much money and let it go to ****.

Smile gun trade

I look forward to watching your progress, I guess if you got it for one gun, you did well, course it depends on what that gun was.

Big project there, but a good year for HD motors, 99 to 02 had Timkin crank bearings and forged bottom ends.

I'll see if I can answer some of the questions.

It was very reasonable, but I don't know that I would say cheap. Though that's a relative word. I also made a partial trade for it.

Sure, I could have bought a new bike (or newer bike) but where's the fun in that? Somebody has to be out there rescuing these neglected bikes. I got started in bikes more with building and re-appropriating than going with shiny and new. I'm not a shiny and new kind of person. I'm the kind of paint it flat black and ride the **** out of it than make it shine and pull it on a trailer.

I'm strongly leaning towards getting it clean and hitting it with flat black, then adding back some light accent colors.

Initially, it's going to be about getting it running.
