Roadglide Restore
Some of the rust has to go, such as on the brake lines. But no, it won't be shiny.

How many miles are on it?
BTW, somebody mentioned that they couldn't believe somebody let it get this bad. I'm guessing that the person that did it way over-extended themselves and then let it go to hell. I love to people watch and I'm always amazed at the people that live in a dump or their trailer is falling in around them and they've got a yard full of kid's toys that cost thousands of dollars and a two year old convertible with mismatched wheels and tires.
FYI: I grew up in a single wide trailer in a junkyard so I'm not knocking the financial situation, just the fact that people way overspend on items and then never bother to take care of them. Never understood that.

As for the bike, it was sitting in a pile of weeds when I picked it up. Guy is single now and I don't know if it was his divorce or him acquiring more toys that led to it's neglect.
I had a few moments when I got home last night to look it over and encountered the first issue. The factory lock for the gas cover had been replaced with one of those push button jobs made in china. Well, it doesn't work anymore. A small screwdriver and I was in. Smelled the gas and it hasn't turned. Yet. That'll be drained soon. Checked the oil and it wasn't bad at all, which was a pleasantly surprise. I was expecting a near sludge but it actually looked like it was changed shortly before he parked it. Oh well, it'll get drained and changed as well. As soon as I have time to pick up a new filter and gaskets, I'll replace the fluids with good ol' 20W50 and then do it again after a 1000 miles with some Mobil 1.
Already have ideas for paint, but that will be down the road a bit. I think I'll start with a bath when the weather (and time) allows.
