throttle cable return issues
after installing 13 inch arlen ness bars an arlen ness comfort trips an longer new cables my throttle is now sticky an sometimes will not even roll off on its own anyone else experiencing these issues my guess is this is a problem now with the additional length of cables and drag inside the cables. ......any thoughts
cables definitely not broken as I followed them all the way down and made sure that both cables on and off are working however they being longer now they do come down the bars into the inner fairing and back out and down to the throttle body just I wonder if at some point too many bends is not going to help and is my problem
Have you tried loosening the r/h switch cover where the throttle grip is and see if it releases? There could be a bind there. Did you spray the return spring at the TB with penetrating oil or you may have to lube new cables too.
Free play seems fine no binds at throttle body .....was thinking lube in cables but wasn't sure that was something that needed to be done .......wasn't sure if added tension needed to be added on return spring

Follow correct adjustment procedure..
Start with both cables at full slack..adjust throttle cable first..tighten little by little until the free play is just a touch and make sure it pulls the throttle wheel to full throttle stop and at rest it rests on idle stop. Throttle should snap back when released. If not then something is wrong or bound. If it snaps back as it should then begin tightening the idle cable. After each adjustment check to see if it snaps back. If it starts to bind it will bind returning to idle. Then loosen until you get the snap back and then you are done..

Almost forgot. After the throttle cable is adjusted before doing the idle cable start the bike and make sure there is no binding or change in rpm when turning the bars from full lock to full lock. If good go onto idle cable adjust and then double check after done with lock to lock check..
