Both my 05 UC and my 06 UCSE burned out within a few months. The UCSE were under warranty but the 05 were an over the counter purchase and only warranteed for 30 days. They were the new design. They are nice if they work but they only warm the insides. If you wear gloves thick enough to keep the back of your hands from frreezing then you'll never feel the inner heat. Of course if you ride in mild weather like above 32 deg they are very nice.
I tossed my heated grips and now have a heated jacket ($220) and Heated Gloves ($160). I also added a dual thermostat because the jacket was too hot and the gloves were not. What I found was the gloves nerver get hot/warm but they do keep my hands from becoming cold if you know what I mean.
The heated gear is a real pain and I only use it when it's in the 20's or below.
