After reading about handlebars here and sitting on a guy's RK that had the Heritage bars on it I am thinking that is the way I want to go. I have a 2006 Road King Standard.
When I order the bars am I looking for 06 Heritage Softail Classic part number 56623-99 ?
The guy's bike that I was looking at had no idea except that they were Heritage bars.
If that is the bar it looks like it is $49.95 retail.
I put a set of wide glide stock handle bars on my 05 RK, and love the way it feels. would like to get a thicker set eventually but the height is perfect for a 6' person.
I just told them I wanted the heritage bars, best move I ever made. I rode an 04 RKC for 2 years and cannot believe I never did it. The 07 had them out the door.
I posted a couple of days ago about doing this to my rk standard.
Best thing I have done to it.
I like the angle of the grips more, its more like the angle on my wide glide.
I got them over the counter and it was less than 50 bucks, put them on myself in about an hour.
Yeah, I just put Heritage bars on my wife's Road King....I don't know the part number, but they are very comfortable. Stock length cables all fit fine. I had Wild1 Chubbies on it when I road it....but the heritage bars blow them away as far as comfort. You should be able to call the Service/Parts guys at a dealer to get the proper number....My.....oops, my wife's RK is an '01......
Indy,
I put a set of the reduced reach bars on my 07 road King. It was actually a little more trouble than I had bargained for due to those particular bars requiring that the wiring be internal on the bars. That one thing actually made what would have been a very quick job into a disaster for me (don't want to go into it). From what a lot of people say the "Heritage" bars go very well on the Road King. Just from looking at them they appear extremely similar both in shape and size to the "reduced reach" bars. With the Heritage bars you could probably leave the wiring on the outside thus saving a decent bit of trouble.
