My 07 RK like to roll slightly forward and have the JS move back slightly instead of staying straight out. It will move very slightly forward on almost any surface as the JS moves backwards. It is maybe 1/4" movement. Is that normal?

noble jim, did you ever notice yours doing anything similar to that?

yep. normal. look at the locking tab on the top of the js. it is slightly smaller than the groove in which it locks into, giving it some play. and a rch play there, equates to a heart attack inducing movement at the end of the js.

It rested on the engine guard and the foot board, no damage done. When I got home, I jacked it up and examined the jiffy stand and couldn't find a reason for this. The bike was parked on a very slight incline, front higher than the rear. I can only imagine that I leaned the bike over on the jiffy stand before it was in position to fully lock??? Just don't know. Anyone else experience this?

I had the same thing happen to me with my 14 Street Glide. Pulled it out of the garage heading to work. Put stuff in the left side saddle bag, closed the lid turnaround to go back in the garage to set the alarm and close the garage door when I heard a crash. Turned around there she laid on the driveway. Very sick feeling and the bike was only a week old. Mine must have been operator failure because it hasn't happened again but now I make sure the kick stand is all the way forward, guess i just got careless.

I don't play the "spares" game. Too many "what ifs", not enough room in my saddlebags. I like to live dangerously haha!

HIGHJACK: I just installed the HD garage door operator that works when you flip your hi-beam switch and love it.

Had me fooled; the title says Jiffy stand failure, which got my attention. Looks more like rider error or inattention. I always verify before getting off the bike by taking a look, as I don't want to have to pick this bike up.

Likely operator error...Harley's have a patented locking jiffy stand, very dependable, but yeah, you sure can set that thing down on the tab an it will slip off if it's on the rear part of the tab.

I'm one of those that keeps a spare spring and tool on the bike...J&P sells a device that you can put on the frame as an emergency deal to hold it up, one of these days I'll probably order one...not certain if it will work due to the angle of the retracted stand, but it's not too expensive...another thing if the spring breaks would be to use a zip tie as an emergency method...
