I've had a 09 king, 12 king and now a 13 RGU. I never road without the windshield on the kings and I was wanting to add stereo and a tour pack. That's why I switched to the RGU. I would never go back to the RK unless I was getting a second bike for local riding.

Love the looks of the CVO RK + I think it's setup for an IPOD. Should ride great with the SE shocks, but a buddy just bought a '14 CVO UC + it's got air shocks. Ridin it's the only way to find out for sure.

Wow the ride of the Road Glide was much better than the ride of the Street Glide? They have the exact same suspension, I have a buddy that says the same thing every time he gets a different model, the new one is always the best model Harley has.

Maybe because there were a crapload more Roadkings made? Seriously!
I love hearing guys complain about wind. It's a friggin motorcycle. I rode for almost 40 years without a windshield.
At 60, I find the RoadKing more agile and fun to ride than a Glide. Lots of my buddies have RG's, but I'll take my King any day. Plus, you can remove the windshield in seconds for just cruising around town.
As far as tunes go. Don't want them. I have a FF helmet I use on my Metric, wired for BT, and I never use my iPod.

Too funny. I have a buddy that does that with everything, including cars. The "new" one is much better than what he got rid of. As for me---I test rode the RG and SG 2 times each to see what the fuss was over the "fixed" fairing. I felt no difference out on the interstate and feel that I would need a gust of wind so strong to really feel the benefits of that fixed fairing over my SG---and if its that strong, I prob wont be riding anyway.

I've had RG owners say that a SG fairing gets thrown around in the wind when big trucks past, etc--------I've never had that happen.

I say test ride them and make your own decision. We all think our models are the best model. I wanted a SG and almost bought a RG because ppl had me so scared of the SG fairing--I read so much about how unstable it was and I'm sure glad I did some test rides for myself.

I currenty own both, a 12 CVO SG and a 13 RG Custom and yes the RG custom rides better. Must be the simple fact the fairing is mounted to the frame on the RG and not the forks as on the SG.

I would agree with you if all you did was test ride both and I understand that's about all most of us can do. For me, I have owned one Limited, two SG's and still own one SG. My dealer gave me a RGU to ride for 3 days while my Limited was getting prepped for my Alaska trip last year. I was so impressed with the RG I almost traded for it before I left but didn't have time get it dailed in before the 9,000 mile trip. I did however, trade for it one week after my return.

I travel...a lot! I love all my bikes but if I'm traveling for days I'll take the RG everytime.

OP, If you are really considering a trade you may be money a head to rent one for a few days.

That's the right way to decide what is right for the way you and your wife ride.
PS you can see by my sig what I like, but I never rode a Road Glide or any fairing bike...
