Default Got hit

Long story short: traveling west, car traveling east took left hand turn in front of me, I went down. Engine guard bent, nipple on clutch cable broken off, black denim black scrapes on left side. Just wondering if anyone else whose had an accident and taken their bike to a hd dealership for repairs how long it's taken to get their bike back?

Depends on the damage, but if you need painted parts, you are weeks out at least. It sucks but if your color isn't a current run you wait until they are doing that color.
Glad you are OK though!
If it is just rashed up, there is no reason at all you can't ride it till the parts come in.

By the sounds of it, you are OK. If that were not the case, the bike would be ready long before you are. As said before, the paint is what will take time. The rest sounds like a afternoon worth of shop time only. If possible, get it back up and running, get the paint fixed over the winter.

What he said.

When my OL went down, it took several months to get her bike done, but they chose to replace the frame. So, they had to tear it all down, and build it on a new frame. During this time, they replaced the bars and cables (she went with braided cables and reduced-reach bars since she was planning that anyway), right passing light and turn signal, new grips, windshield, right switch housing, and crash bar.

I think that's it. Not a bit of damage to the tank or engine.

She also got an upgrade on her right-side lower . . . new femur rod, knee plate, tibia plate, several pins, screws, several months of percocet, physical therapy for several months, and almost a week of vacation (including meals and surgery) in Sioux City.

So, if it was just the bike that was damaged, consider yourself lucky!

I was rearended at low speed on my 2005 Road Glide at a stop sign. Took it to the dealer for repairs and the total was $4650. In a nutshell, if it was painted it had damage (except for the tank). The longest was waiting for the parts to be painted Black Cherry from the factory. It took about 3 months.

Glad to hear your OK. Just reading another thread about a rear end accident where he is alive will be fine but is pretty banged up. Makes me think twice about my backrest...

Does the douche bag that hit you have insurance? Maybe that policy will cover a rental.

Sucks about your bike, but at least you are alright. As far as down time for parts. My bike took a month, but mine is a CVO. They actually said they've never seen CVO parts come in that fast, usually it's anywhere 4-12 weeks. In your case I would guess 4 weeks would be the norm.

A friend went down a few years ago and his Crash bar was bent on his Fatboy. They replaced a fork leg, fender(s) and other parts. When they test rode it, it didn't track straight. They replaced the other fork leg. It still didn't track straight.

Apparently, from what the shop told him was that if the crash bar is bent, it's likely the frame is bent as well.

Somehow, the adjustor came back and cut a 3rd check... For a frame. They had to cut the neck off (with the VIN), send it to HD so a new frame could be stamped, and rebuild the bike.

Headache but it's like new.
