True Duals
Looking to get a true dual header setup for my 2003 FLHTCI. I see many different brands/options. I already have a set of V&H mufflers that I like, so I only need to upgrade the headpipes. Any preference to one brand over another? I already have a Power Commander, so I can easily accommodate the exhaust change. Thanks.
I had V&H true dual headers and would not get them again. On the '09 later bikes the crossover is so thin it looks like a piece of linguini. Also, my bike dropped 2 hp vs the stock headers when I dynoed it.
I'd look at S&S or see what the guys at FM recommend. The monster oval mufflers though sound great through true duals and I would use them again if I ever ran true duals but the power hit is more than I'm willing to take. (I gained 8 hp when I went to a 2 into 1).

I've used the V&H on my '03 and '08 and really liked them.

There are several good exhaust manufacturers that make true dual head pipes. I doubt it matters much which one you go with. From what I've found, the stepped headers others have mentioned require mufflers that will fit those particular heads. In other words stepped true dual heads come in full exhaust systems. You will loose some low end power with standard true duals but that's the trade off for the look and sound on true dual heads. I think my wife's Ultra performs just fine with true dual heads. Dyno sheets are great but it's the look, sound and feel as you ride that will make you happy, not the power your bike has at 5000 rpm.
