Default Need a maintenance plan

Hello,
I live in AZ and ride my Road Glide 70 miles a day.
I have been thinking about the maintenance plans.
I already have a ESP plan and that has turned out to be a great deal.

I am going to try and shop the maintenance plan, my local dealer wants 3150 for it, and I am sure I can get that back, but Im wondering if there is a better deal in the Arizona area.

I just do not have the time to do interval maintenance like I should, and there are several "biggie" intervals that I need to to do or will need to do.

This is Arrowhead HD that I have been dealing with. Some mixed reviews, but they have always treated me like a king in there. I went in today to get a headlight issue fixed under ESP and they fixed 4 more things under ESP today too.

So let me know if you can. The only thing about the plan that was pitched today is it does not transfer to a new unit, they only give you a credit when you trade in. I will be trading the Glide for a new(er) Road Glide in between 4 and 16 months.

I am good with any of the HD dealers here in the valley, Anthem, and Grand Canyon HD is kind of a hike, but for the right deal I could go there too.

they really up-play the potential savings over having to pay for the services individually. the thing is though, at least at my local dealer, its very artificial. they have you come in for an oil change every 2500 miles.

i know that you said you don't have the time, but i calculated the cost of all the services i would do in 36 months (my dealer's platinum plan), with an annual mileage of 10,000-12,000. after 3 years, i would have spent about $600 in supplies (using my choice of synthetic oil, and following the factory recommended intervals). they want over $3,000 for this plan. no thanks, for that kind of loot, i'll find the time to do an oil change, hell, it's only an hour.

3150?????????? For basic maintenance? No way in the world that is a good deal...For the record, that dealer is not doing you any favors by fixing other stuff they "find" under your ESP. They bill that stuff back to to the company to make money...I bet they do treat you like a king though. Who else would consider a 3150.00 maintenance plan????

Jaysus....that seems ludicrous! I agree with the others...money saved is money earned but not with a flogging like that...IMO

When I got my bike in 11, I paid 700 for the 1,5,10k services. For that price it should be like 50k miles, never heard of a maintenance plan going that far out, wow. How many services does that cover?

as i mentioned in my earlier post, my local dealer charges $3k for 3 years. you get a service every 2500 miles for that time period. if you ride 5k a year, you get 6 services. if you ride 100k per year, you would get 120 services. course it's only good at the selling dealer and if you rode 100k per year, you'd never be in the area to take advantage of it

My Dealer Charges $1,799 for a 3 year unlimited mileage maintenance plan. That includes Syn 3 oil, Chrome oil filters, 1 set of brake pads per wheel and 1 each front and rear tire replacement when they wear down to 2/32". The plan is non cancel-able. But they give you $300 credit toward a new bike if you purchase within 30 days of the plans expiration. It can be transferred to a new owner for a $100 fee if you sell the bike.

This seems like a reasonable plan.

For me, I get pleasure tinkering with my bike. Doing basic services is relaxing, there's comfort in knowing that what I'm doing is correct, and it doesn't take that long. I save a few bucks and still get therapy if it's not riding weather.

I just checked with my dealer and they charge $1500 for a two year plan, I think. I bought one with my 2013 in Aug 2012 so I'm coming up on renewal I want to. the other day I took it in for service and got two tires and front pads replaced. My total bill had $550 deducted for my 20000 mile service. I ride to work as often as I can from southern Maryland to Springfield Virginia at over 100 miles a trip. its worth it for me. The only problem is that maintenance, unlike the extended service plan, is dealer specific and has to be performed at the dealer of purchase.....at least around here.
