Default 95 Ultra mini apes

So I've read endlessly about being able to put 10" minis on a bagger with keeping stock wires and cables, however every bike seems to be newer. I need to know if the older bikes have the same luxury. Anyone with a pre 96 that can chime in here?

I have a 95 and I was able to put a taller bar (and it wasn't much) on but at the time there was only one available.
The reason; the front forks use the handlebars as an air reservoir. If you can make a reservoir to mount somewhere else then, you should be able to put just about anything you want.
Another possibility would to put cartridges in the front forks eliminating the pneumatic set-up. The only problem there is that you would loose the anti-dive function.
It might help if you were to look at the manual for the Ultra from that era.
