Default Limp mode again! Dealer tech says replace the twist grip throttle sensor.

My 08 FLHX has gone into limp mode yet again. It went out on the highway at about 55mph, this time the rmps dropped to 1000 and there was NO throttle response, with the bike still running I could twist the throttle as much as I wanted and nothing would would happen. I have tried the usual, disconnected the plug at the throttle body, cleaned it with electrical contact spray, let it dry and applied dielectric grease, cleared the error code. Is the twist grip sensor the next step? Any feedback would be much appreciated befor I drop $200 on the new twist grip. Thanks.

Depends, could be corrosion on the pins, faulty TBW sensor or twisty. This JUST happened to my bike last week. Replaced the twisty as per the error code and the service light cleared and it runs great again. Yeah, its not fun when you roll the throttle and nothing happens. I am not a fan of the TBW, but what are you gonna do.

Unplug the ECM, and clean the contacts.

Or follow the service bulletin and replace the contacts. Of course your dealer tech should already be doing that if they are servicing it.

Last week my bike just up and quit. Restarted about a minute later w/out issue. It never went into limp mode. A tech at work checked for codes and found a P1511 (throttle control actuator). Per a TSB, I have the new pins/connectors on order and will try that first. If no go, then the twist sensor....

Mine went thru that when it was new. After they replaced the twist grip sensor, it ended up being the pins. They lengthened the harness and replaced the pins with the gold plated ones, not a problem since (knocking on wood, lol)

Same problem here, dealer knows nothing about the service bulletins or gold pins. No corrosion on pins, but pushing the wire and connector deeper into throttle body connector seems to have helped, so keeping my fingers crossed.
