Yes
No
I put Samson 29" Silverbullet slasher slip-ons on my Road King Classic. Use the stock clamp. No sealant. About the easiest install you will have.

only thing i think i would add is to drill a small hole (maybe 1/8") through the silpon and the header pipe (under the clamp) and put a pop rivet in there. SE IIs come with the hole already drilled with a rivet. just extra insurance to keep the slip-ons from "slipping" off. did it on my SE IIs and my V&H Ovals and have had no problem with the moving. have heard about some folks losing a slip-ons, which ain't a good thing.

There are two bolts in the back of each pipe holding them to the bracket under the bag. I don't see how the slip-ons can back out and slip-off. But I guess anything's possible. The stock muffers mount exactly the same way as aftermarket slip-ons. If my slip-ons slip off I'll slip on my stock mufflers again.

chuck the stock clamps...they have a limiter built in between the halves preventing a good clamp....go to the hardware store and buy a good clamp ....paint the inside of the slip on with copperseal gasket maker, also the end of the pipe....it'll seal good then and not rattle

this is my proven method...it has worked for years on countless bikes

Don't drill it, it will rust. The muffler has two bolts on the back, they aren't going anywhere.

Use new HD clamps and smear some Permatex UltraCopper or Loctite Copperseal inside the pipe. Lubricate the muffler bolt threads (it oil will burn off when it gets hot) then crank down like hell on the muffler bolts!!!

Yes, many times.
No, but it don't hurt.
The service manual suggests that you use PB Blaster on the old muffler to loosen it before you try to pull it off. That stuff works great.

I had to use pop-rivets on the slip-on mufflers for my FXR, but with a bagger, I don't see why you would need them. Actually, the pop-rivets on my FXR mufflers broke, so I just used nails (yes, nails ground down with a file). I had no problem with rust because I rode the bike almost every day for 10 years.

at least on my '07 UC, the 2 bolts that bolt to the slip-on go thru the mount that does move!! you need to look at it! when installing the slip-on, you can bolt the two bolts and still move the muffler forward and backward, until you actually tighten the clamp. that is the reason for rivet. certainly if they fall off you can put your old ones back on. but if you pay $300-$400 for your mufflers, you certainly don't want them slipping off. Search this forum, you will find instances where the mufflers have done just that.

I have 5 sets of slip on exhaust and occasionally swap them out depending on my mood. I re-use the stock clamps and haven't had any problems with them. I also don't use any sealant. As mentioned above, get a can of PB Blaster at Wal-mart and spray the clamps and the area where the headers and exhaust meet, let the PB Blaster work for about 25- 30 minutes. I can swap slip on exhaust in 45 minutes using this method.
