guys change exhaust as often as they shave. There care tons of lightly used systems out there for cheap. I'm happy with my used fullsac header and fatshotz.

Thank you all for your feedback. I will look into some slip-ons for now. Seems like the right place to start.

I agree with 05 train. Get a set of slip on's with remove able baffles and be done. You won't get the baffles out of your stock pipe. And with just slip on's you won't need that damn tuner. I put a set of used R C Components slip on's on both my SG's and pulled the baffles on both and never needed a tuner.

I bought a set of Python slip ons though my dealer and have been very happy with them. Nice aggressive sound, but not too much to spoil long rides.

+1

That said, check Fuel Moto Jackpot's, Rush Big Louie's, Screamin' Eagle (65117). None will break the bank. All sound great!

I got them because the Long Shots I got for my wife's Deluxe sounded excellent.
When the time came to replace my Samson Big Gun Slip On's I went with the V& H because the price was right... Big mistake.
A couple of years later finally went for the Rinehearts True Duals... love em!
Just a different opinion. I bought my SG with the big shots already on them (SE cam, SE intake, and programmer). They're only to loud when you "get on it".
I do like the fact that leaving my house at 5:30 in the morning, or riding through the neighborhood, as long as I take off normally the sound is not loud at all. But when leaving the bar, can make some serious noise.

Highway noise is not an issue at all. Only time I even notice my exhaust is while riding over a bridge or in construction areas where barriers near shoulder bounce sound back at you making it louder. Love the sound in 6th gear especially around 80mph.

The sound at idle is not a deep tone, but more of a "plat" sound. I do like the deeper tone exhausts out there, but I think every bike out there is riding with CFR/etc and I like to be different. I do like the way the Rhinehardts look, but there are sooo many people who have those, and while quitter I don't like the "huff" noise I hear.

Just giving a different opinion.
