On the Road King Custom do the saddle bags lock? What is the most comfortable seat you can get while still retaing a low profile look.I guess I mean to say best balance of form and function.Thx
The bags do not lock on the custom. Somewhere I saw a lock the bags but I can not recall where. I replaced my seat with a one piece Mustang touring seat. It doesn't have the low profile look but who sees it when your seating on it but your butt. An your butt will like it cause it is nice. I put mine on a few weeks before we went to Sturgis. It sets you up a little higher but you get use to it. I took it off when I traded the Custom for the FLHTCI I have now and had to ride it 72 miles back to the dealer and $#%^&^%. If your interested in it I will sell it cheap to get rid of it. New it was 299 at a shop in Georgetown. 150 and you pay shipping and its yours or anybody interested in it. Bike had little over 1000 miles when I put it on and 7200 when I traded it.
I have a Corbin "dual-tour" seat and removable backrest (backrest with the hole in it; gives support and the hole is a great place to hange your helmet from) that I've been using for over 25K-miles. It took 1500-miles to break the seat in, but after that, perfect. My wife falls asleep on this one. The seat is expensive, but you can get it in many custom colors and pattens; I just took the basic black.
i got a corbin and its very comfortable, but its got them silver things tacked around the edge, makes me think i need a cowboy hat when im riding, so i got a badlander seat from ebay, an i find it to be very comfortable, just kinda wish it had a backrest!
The Corbin Hollywood looks great on the custom but MUST be ordered specificaly for the custom, not JUST a Road King. Other seats such as my Mustang solo or maybe the HD sundowner can be made to fit. The fittment issues are becuase of the dash on the custom. Slightly bending the seat spoon down on a Mustang solo or the Sundowner will make it fit.
Just fyi on the Mustang solo seat. I was out there just yesterday and saw they have a specific order number now for the RK Cust.....so perhaps no modification is needed anymore.
