I posted this in the mechanical section but thought I could get help in here faster
OK had what sounded like sounded like bad lifter noise so I did the following
1 Changed lifters (oem)
2 adjustable push rods (s&s to 27 flats 32 tpi)
3 Changed chain Tensioner shoes ( checked bearings and all looks good)
4 Changed primary tensioner shoe
5 Changed oil and filter (Castrol racing RS 20w50 full syn for Harley)
6 Had 3 bad cracks welded up on the head pipe
7 Cut the cone out of the rear of the stock muffler for more sound
Not all of these were because of the issue at hand but still needed done
I need suggestions on what to check next, or should I just take it to a stealer?
Oil pressure when hot is 10-12 when idle and 32-36 at 2500 rpm
Im thinking looking under the rocker boxes
2001 Ultra Classic with 26,000 miles all bone stock
Without some help im afraid im going to miss the whole riding season!!!
I'm not sure what years were affected but I remember that some models were having problems with the bolts coming loose on the rocker support ... just my .02 cents worth
Thats the next place im looking I really dont want to take it to a dealer and spend a butt load of money if its a minor issue but its loud enough that I know I shouldnt ride it either
Where is the noise coming from? If you don't have a stethoscope, use a wood dowel, put it on various areas on the engine, make a fist as you grip the end of the dowel and hold your ear to your fist, the niose will travel up the dowel. Find the spot on the engine the noise is loudest, then let us know. Did you replace the cam bearings in the block, the inners?
Before you take anything loose inside the rocker boxes, check bolt torque on everything, and measure rocker arm to support clearance. I'd bet it's excessive.....
