I had surging on my last bike at steady throttle positions when trying to hold a speed. It was most noticeable at speeds 45mph and under. I found my drive belt was a bit loose. I adjusted it to spec and surging disappeared. Might want to look in to this because it's free and easy to rule out.

Same thing if primary is loose. I noticed this on my 07' once and rapid acceleration and deceleration about three times fixed the problem.
After 45K you might want to pull the induction module and clean the components and sensors with appropriate cleaners. They do get dirty. Clean its electrical contacts as well using contact cleaner. It might clear up the problem. At least it's cheap to do.
one thing I did just do was cranked it up just sitting in neutral. When I throttle up to about 3000 rpm and stay steady I get that same surge (misfiring) I thought it was just riding down the road at steady throttle, but it appears even at steady throttle just sitting, really at any rpm. get an occasional popping also. I guess when your giving more throttle and not holding it steady you just don't notice the misfire as bad. Open for any input, thanks!

It still sounds like a lean condition. Under throttle the mixture is richer.
ok, cleaned and checked all I could with the induction module... didn't take it all the way out, but looked at a couple connectors I could get to and they looked great, wires not heated, no corrosion at all, really nice and clean. I don't put much water on my bike other than rain for this reason.
checked for intake leaks, all good there.
FX4 it is fuel injected, and yes by what I said on the first post, I realize I am a tad lean, run K&N air filter, slip on V&H, been that way for 7 years and 35k miles. Plugs look good so it's not like it's super lean. So did it all the sudden get so lean it won't hardly run? Not by what I'm seeing on the plugs.
So.... being I'm getting no codes I don't even know if it's electrical or a fuel problem.
So I started on the electrical basics.... Checked the battery voltage just sitting there and it was 12.9v when I crank up the bike and run it up to about 3600rpm I am only showing about 13.7-13.9 v I think it should be more around 14.3-14.7 but not sure if that's enough to make a difference.
So I go to the stator... I unplugged the stator wire from the regulator, I checked between the two pins for any kind of resistance about 1 ohm. I'm pretty sure any resistance is what you want, so good there. I checked each pin to ground, and it was open so no grounds which is good. then I cranked the bike up and measured ac volts across the stator pins got about 19vac at idle, and it run up to 55 or so at about 3500rpm. So I'm thinking stator is good.
voltage regulator was a little more weird and maybe someone can help here. I went from battery neg to one pin on the regluator plug and got 12 v as I did on the other pin as well. According to the sheet I'm going off, you should not have anything voltage present, none, notta. If so it's bad. So is this the right way to interrupt this?
Here comes the good part.... I happen to have a brand new in the box regulator.... wire it up, same thing, 12 v on those to pins when not running. So did I have a bad brand new one in the box sittin on my shelf for about 2 yrs now?
I was thinking if my electrical isn't right it could mess with the computer.... I don't know I'm grasping... can anybody add anything. Thanks driving me crazy this is.
