Should idle at 1000 rpm. It's set by the ecm.

On the 08s they had a problem with the tbw. If you cut the engine off at above 1000 rpm then what ever rpm you cut it off at was the startup idle

Take you hand off the throttle next time you cut it off and then cut it off at the switch on the console. If you bike HaS had a chance to warm up and the fast idle speed has been taken care of by the ecm it should be idling around 1000 when you cut it off

This should solve your probkem

Dont rev your engine before you cut it off as well

There is a reset procedure to get your idle back to normal (950-1000rms) with the kill switch on, cycle the ignition on wait 10 sec, off 10 sec, do that 4 times, it resets the ECM. There is also a download the dealer can do to help, but it does not cure the problem. The only cure is stated above, turning it off with the idle being normal. Use the ign switch not the kill switch.

even if u change the ecm for a lower idol u then run the risk of not enough oil flow, and the stator won't put out enough amps to keep up with the load on the battery.

I've done the reset procedure as Steelerdude stated in the past. Give it a try. My instructions are: kill switch in run, Ing switch to run for 5 sec, Ing switch to off for 10 sec, do this for 3 cycles, kill switch off, Ing to on, kill switch to run until fuel injector stops and engine light out, fire it up! As others have stated make sure throttle is totally returned before shutting bike down in the future.

Now I just did stage 1.
Vance and Hines true dual
arlen ness big sucker stage 1
Samson fishtail slip on, with baffle.
Fuelpak

Will this procedure mess with my fuel pak or anything? Bike runs good besides that idles a little high. I contacted V&H on this fuelpak, and they stated the Idle won't be effected by the fuelpak.

You say it idles high... What is the idle speed you are at currently? This might help us....
