Exact same deal...It was the VR....One of the codes thrown was an over voltage code, can't remember the number. My PowerVision was a nice tool to help diagnose the prob.
I made it back to fort worth, the bike voltage was regularly dropping to 11 every couple miles, then coming back up whenever it got cloudy or a cool breeze hit, but it finally gave up a little passed West, and was barely at 10v by the time I got home. Going to take it to Adam Smith HD in the morning to get it looked it.
Had a similar problem today. Coming home from a long ride my voltage dropped to 11 no matter what the engine rpm. Tested batt to find it had 12 volts. Started the bike and find its not charging according to my tester. Thoughts?

Well you saved yourself some serious aggravation skipping Cowboy during the ROT.
I didn't so I spent 4 1/2 hours going through the exact same issues as you while in Austin this weekend. Cowboy diagnosed it as the VR and it cost me $341 to have it swapped out. I didn't want to chance riding it back to Houston and it crapping out on the way home.
I'm pissed right now because I skipped the Extended warranty (bike went out of warranty 51 days ago) and so far in that time period I have replaced one compensator and one VR on my dime.
I plan on calling Harley tomorrow and asking them for some help on the VR.
Well I called Harley and they issued a store credit of $217.72 for the cost of the regulator. Not perfect but better than eating the whole deal myself.
My bike (13 FLTRX) is at the dealer for the exact same issue right now. It is strange but I have read some people get new regulator and stator and others get one or the other. The tech working on my bike seems to think it is more likely the stator than the VR. I am going to push to try and get both done at once so I can be done with this weird issue.
We'll see what happens when they get a chance to ride the thing and diagnose it.
On my way home it seemed as if my bike was charging harder than normal. It seemed to spend a lot more time in the 14-15 range. Honestly I don't really remmeber what it read before. I am more in tune with it now because of this happening.
