I've found gel pads to sometimes squirm around in the seat, getting out of position and even sometimes managing to fold themselves over. I don't know how or why, though I suspect squirming and how one gets onto and off of the seat are factors.
In my experience with seats (not necessarily motorcycle seats either), gel is something I want to like far more than I do actually like. Many times the sitting bones of the pelvis will push through a layer of gel, completely defeating the claimed comfort. As the gel is basically in a plastic bag, and one is sitting on a plastic bag, it tends to be hot.
Similar comments would apply to my experiences with most memory foams.
Never heard of gel moving around in our seats at least , the gel sits flush inside the foam ( almost enclosed by the foam ) . Also the gel wont melt or freeze.

MCC modify my seat with Impact Gel/Memory Foam approx. 2 years ago. There are no issues at the present time and no butt burning from the stock seat. Very happy with their work.

We've been building seats since 1987 and have been using our progressive density foam along with our Saddlegel with great results for years. If anyone has any questions about gel just let me know I'd be glad to help.
