radar detector

Anyone have a radar detector that they use on motorcycle and in the cage? If so what brand and model. Time for me to get one. Thanks

Why? They don't work unless an officer uses radar and leaves it continuously on and not on hold...which is rare.

Makes the chances of getting a warning slim to none if you have one as well. If fact, you might get a "hard copy" instead of a warning because of one.......... but they work good out on the interstate if the traffic is heavy enough.

Radar detectors are far less useful than they used to be. Most officers/troopers keep the units on hold until they see a vehicle they want to check. Also a great many departments, especially state police and highway patrols, are going to laser.

Got a ticket last year for going under the limit with my radar detector in my car, depending on the province they are illegal so it got confiscated. Now I just use cruise. Always something better, newer out there on both sides. FWIW my was a Valentine and was good.

I don't have it mounted on the bike yet but in the car I use the Passport Escort 9500ix, a little pricey around $500. Not only a great speed detector that picks up laser but also has a gps system that downloads and stores locations of red light cameras and speed cameras. Works very well in the City and Long Island area.
Just saw Simon's post above, I think they're illegal in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
