not sure if this will help you or not, but i went to O'Reilleys and bought a shorty replacement mast and swapped mine out. It is about 16" tall compared to the 30"+ stock mast. Just a screw mount on the base. Reception is still pretty good. The shorter length looks better in my opinion.

Hidden antennas (powered) work well, but need to be cautious on grounding points when you also have LED lights in fairing. Best to ground direct to frame vs. battery...otherwise your reception could be impacted.

There were a few posts about just using a regular shorty antena and just zip tie it to the wire bundles inside of the fairing.

The MoCo's antenna relocation kit will work on an EG. Also, it's been my experience, the factory antenna works the best at clear reception.

...the fairing mount is not easy or cheap.

does any automotive antenna use the same attachment as our HD antennas?
The bracket works on the EG. I just did the tour pack detach kit and installed the bracket. I'll take a picture later and post it.

I need to do something too. I installed one of the in fairing type and reception sucks.

I like the idea of the stubby. I wanna mount it to my bag.
do they attach to the HD wiring just the same? is that a generic antenna attachment?
talking about the screw-on portion.

It doesn't work well because letting it hang loose like this loses the ground path. The antenna needs to be grounded to the frame.
