Default trans fluid change question

Is it just me or is it impossible to see the reading on the trans dipstick? Just did the second service on my 13 street glide myself. Put in amsoil 20-50 in the primary and engine and 28 ounces of 75-140 severe gear in the trans. I cannot tell if it is full.......... I think I am ok as I rubbed my finger down the stick (oh boy, gonna get some comments on that one) until I think I felt oil and it was about at the full mark.

Anybody have a better way for this?

Had the same issue with my Baker 6 speed...they said put the required oz in and then ride...I checked the stick and it was perfect.

I agree with the OP -- when you drain the tranny, and put fresh gear oil into it, it's not easy to see what the reading is on the dipstick.

BUT -- that used to be a problem for me, back when the transmission took less than 32 ounces.

Since I got the 2007 Road Glide, and since the manual says the transmission capacity is now 32 ounces -- I just buy a bottle of Mobil1 75w/90 synthetic gear oil (with a "pointy tip" cap), snip the end of the cap off, squirt the contents into the transmission, put the plug back in.... done !

28 oz of Mobile 1 75/140 in my Heritage. Had a hard time seeing it on the dipstick myself.

Redline isn't too hard to see, I put in the 28 Oz., the pesto bismol tinting shows up on the dipstick okay, level was right where it was supposed to be.

Yes, I used the finger method until I changed to Shockproof heavy which is the color of Pepto-Bismol.
