I will try that
If it just all of a sudden started running crappy I wouldn't spend any money buying expensive tuners hoping it will fix the issue.

Any chance when you just installed that oil cooler that you might have let the oil cooler gasket fall out of place so that it blocks the oil flow? Has your oil pressure changed?
Seeing that the oil cooler is the only mod that you added that affects the engine directly I would check that and the quick fuel line detach under the tank like already mentioned.

i used an onion skin amount of the black gasket sealer to hold it in place while I buttoned up the oil cooler. oil cooler definitely helped. But thanks for thinking

When I get my wheel back, I am going to disconnect, and connect the quick fuel line detach. Thanks for your thoughts

when I originally got the wheel, my wife gave me a gremlin bell. It only worked for 4 yrs. The gremlins have taken over.

Hd service just installed a cpk? I think they said. It is a shot in the dark. They can't say that it will fix the problem. Sounds like they are just throwing **** at it. But supposedly they are still looking into it. I can only imagine the damage to my wallet. I tried everything I thought of, with some input from you guys, and I still have the problem. I am very concerned and bummed. I just got the bike they way I like it, and a trade or sale is defiantly out of the question. I will have this bike till I get to the pearly gates

I have experienced a bad cpk. The bike ran like it had bad gas, for a very short time then died and would not start again. From my experiences they either do what they should or they don't. Nothing in between.
Have you done anything to the exhaust?
I installed the old style SE mufflers. They sounded awesome but it killed a lot of my power. It was so bad that when I hit the mountain in 6th like I normally do, I had to down shift to 5th.

no i haven't changed the mufflers. When I bought the bike I had the dealer install the screaming eagle stage 1 air cleaner. put the rhine hart true duals on. and do the down load. Ran great until recently. No mods have been done recently, except for lifting off the gas tank

this statement is far too general as is to be of use.

retarded ignition timing ( vs "normal" at rpms) in many cases will result in cooler running as the fuel mixture will still be burning when the piston is down the bore...and this too is a general statement.

the whys and wherefores of spark timing are not always fully understood by owners.

under correct conditions advanced spark timing will give better power and MPG....but under other conditions retarded timing will give smoother motor operations and better torque.
on early Flat and OHV models, the rider controls spark timing with the left grip- you get a pretty good idea of how it works

Maybe try a new set of plugs, have you noticed if its both cylinders are getting hot or maybe just one?
Maybe when messing with the tank you pulled on one of the spark plug cables, are the seated firmly at both ends?

Ive had a fouled plug on one of my wifes bikes throw me through loops before, they both looked fine but a new set and it was running good again.

Joe,
I too wish someone who has had a similar issue would give us other ideas of what to look for. I see yours is a 2010, but mine is a 2008 FLHTC/E.G. Classic, and my issue is that when I first crank it up in the morning she fires right up, then it will run fine as long as you are on mostly back/side roads where you mostly ride it at 55-65 MPG and don't hardly use 6th gear, but if you get on the big slab instead where the speed limit is like 70 MPH, it'll start fine, but after about 20-25 miles, or 30 min. or so, the exhaust gets really loud, sounds almost like a helicopter, and the throttle response is minimal, specially if your on an incline going uphill or trying to pass someone, it won't hardly go past 75 MPH, but then when you get on flatland again, it still ain't right, but don't sound nearly as bad, and also it really drinks the gas when it does this. Took it to an Indy who changed the in-tank fuel filter and inspected the shell, took air cleaner off and inspected the map sensor connector and put some dielectric grease on it, as well as the ECM connector, and put in a new set of 6R12 stock plugs, still having the issue, the Indy says he don't know what else to do, and I'm also about to give up, I wish now I would have kept my high mileage 2005 5 speed 95".
As far as mods, this bike has 60,000 miles, a stock 96" with 255 cams, SESPT tuner, stock air-box with modified back plate, Python true duals exhaust, 68 tooth rear sportster pulley, and Paul Yaffe 10" Classic Bagger bars. It was DYNO'd at the local H.D. when the exhaust and 255 cams were installed, did fine for a while, replaced the tranny due to the main-shaft bearing going out, and now this, which started a couple months ago, and still ain't figured it out or what's causing it. Maybe someone who's experienced a similar issue can chime in. I hope to get it resolved in time to go to Biketoberfest in Daytona.

Check for intake and exhaust leaks. exhaust may be cracked, when it heats up it expands and opens the crack.
