Default V bad performance while hot

hello

I recently posted a problem with my 2010 ultra that runs like **** when hot. I get no throttle response, and then it lunges, almost like having bad gas. It is not the gas, and it is down right dangerous and embarrassing.

People told me to clean the tcm, behind the air cleaner, and the ecm. I cleaned both, and used dielectric grease. I am still having the problem.

I have taken it to a dealer, but since the engine light came on only once briefly, I am told it is not throwing codes. The Harley tech is having a hard time diagnosing the problem.

Does anyone out there have any ideas. I would GREATLY appreciate input. I don't want them throwing parts just for the hell of it

thanks
JoeN

electrical problems such as sensors are often affected by heat/cold.

common for diagnostics to apply heat with a heat gun, or cold with a spray can to individual sensors.

usually a code will be recorded if the ecm thinks a sensor is bad- or gets unexpected data

does you bike have any mods- if so, list them

oh, and one more thing some grips ( krapkin) had trouble with the internal mating gear breaking inside the grip- causing loss of throttle control

My city-bike (2013 Police RK) does that. Runs great when cool, but in the heat of the day, during stop and go traffic, it just barely pokes along. No lights yet though. It seems to go into EITMS rather quickly too. My 08 FLHT has never had a problem.

Any chance there is settlement in the tank? I am just throwing things out. Fuel pressure regulator, grip sensor, throttle control actuator, fuel level sender. I may be way off but some ideals.

Default 2010 ultra mods

mkguitar

the only mods are a screaming eagle air filter with the hd down load, and rhine hart true duals.

I had added a new sound system, oil cooler, audible alarm, power outlet, BAL 1, but nothing major. Thats it I believe. Had it since new. Now 10,800 miles

This just started happening doing riding around town, slow speed stuff. When I took it to the dealers about 45 min. on the highway, doing 80-85, on a cool morning it was good, then off the highway it was still pretty good, but i think if I kept riding into town it would have acted up

To put the sound system in, I took off the gas tank to run the wires. I don't think that is a factor

thanks

Well, there's no question about it; I use **** gas. City will only spring for the crappiest stuff... mo-go.

The ECM pulls timing when the bike gets hot. Less timing=more heat and poor running.

Its a long shot but in the event the quick disconnect under the tank is closing some when hot, pull the fuel line quick disconnect loose and reconnect. See if the problem still exists. Sometimes those valves in the fitting need to be cycled.

05train
so what do I do, go for an auto tune. What kind. Thunder max? Quite pricey. I am a good old poor boy on compensation, and this is the only thing that keeps me quite sane when I can ride

nevets61
I will try that
