Default PTT Button

Hi, I have an 04 Ultra Classic and am having a problem with my CB radio. At times, especially when I am traveling and push my PTT button, the transmit signal breaks up drastically. At times it evenhappens when I am parked. The dealer replaced the rear PTT switch, sawitng it was always in the volume up position, they changed the antenna and check all the connections in the tour pack. Still did not correct the problem. Did any one else have the same problem or does any one have any ideas as to what it can be. The dealer said the next thing to do is replace the radio.
Thanks

One of our members had a similar sounding problem and it was eventually tracked to his helmet cable!!! bizarre - swopped it with his partners and hey presto all CB problems disappeared

never know - worth a try

Thanks for the reply, but this does it when there are no helmet cables connected.

I once clean my 95 Ultra with S-100 and got it into the PTT switch, caused the thing to stay on all the time!!! Finally had to replace it to stop the noise. Hope you didn't do the same. Be careful where the cleaners go!!

[sm=biker2.gif] Finally the problen is solved..... The housing at the handle bars was pinching the PTT wire. Causing a dead short at times. Removed the housing at the clutch lever, the wires were in a lump, found a cut wire. Insulated the cut wire...flattened out all the wires and re-assembeled. Works like a charm. There is no cut out or even a notch for the wires to travel through, they are just squashed between the handle bars and the housing.
