Default how to remove fork sliders?

I got my springs out, just cannot figure out how the top tubes come out. The clip that holds the seal has been removed, and it seems like the seal is holding the tube in.
I loosened the bolt at the bottom of the fork tube.

Can anyone offer some help?

Also, there's no way I'm going to be able to compress that spring by hand. Any home made compressor ideas?

thanks.

Grab one hand on upper and one on lower compress together some what and then pull apart with some force. They will separate..

The bolt at the bottom has to come out. If the damper rod is spinning then you need to hold the damper rod with a homemade tool like a broomstick shoved down the fork leg or use an impact gun that will spin it so fast it will come out.

That's what i thought. I tried this, several times and it is not bushing at all. I presume the seal is holding this together, right?

The shop manual sure doesn't help.

Illustration is typical ... #4 bolt has to be removed in order to remove the fork tube from the lower legs. You may find that this is difficult because #23 will spin in the bottom. Many times a broom handle inserted and pressed against it will do the trick. Then you can use the tube to dislodge the seals once the retaining rings are removed

On another note, any ideas for compressing the spring?

It's a two person job. I can do them myself with this.
