I had an opportunity on my way home from a weekend journey to fill up with non ethanol fuel, I was hesitant at first because it was not premium and if I do not put premium in my bike it will ping, even with premium on a hot day it pings a little if I roll the throttle in 5th gear. Well after riding a while I roll the throttle in 5th gear, no ping, plus my mileage was above normal, again, what is the advantage of ethanol, because in my opinion it sucks.
Ethanol just dilutes the gas down by 10 or 15%, lowering your fuel mileage by 10 or 15%.
Basically, It in the fuel because Congress in their wisdom wanted to help farmers sell more corn.

It's just part of the 'renewable resources' BS the government has saddled us with.
Makes no sense because you get fewer mpg's with E10, which in turn requires more frequent fill-ups, which in turn cancels out any reduced gasoline consumption gained by using E10.
Theory was it would lesson our dependency on foreign oil while helping our farmers. Now, I am all for helping our farmers - without them, well I hate to think what would end up on my plate and my family tree is made up of wheat, sugar beat, and sunflower farmers. However, leave the job to Willie N. As far as oil dependence, less than half of the oil consumed is used for gasoline... The rest is plastics, rubber products, asphalt (roads and shingles) heating oil, lubricants, etc
Well I really wish I could find REAL gasoline more easily, I did not think the difference would be that great, my mileage was about 3 mpg difference, no ping, and for .20 cents more a gallon, I would pay that every time.
