I originally had the fangs on the right. Had a big rock flipped up off the road, and the left fang took the impact. Thought I had punched a hole in my fairing, but was happy to see that the fang became sacrificial.
Saw the new deflector at the dealership and took this picture when I was changing them out.
Anybody want the old fangs (one has a dent) they are yours for $25 to cover shipping, or free to anybody in San Diego.
They install in 5 minutes and do not hit anything at full lock. I do not have lowers.
Think the originals might give slightly better wind protection, but the new ones look much better.
I had the old style on my Deluxe---I hated them, but they worked. I vowed never to put them on my SG until my Canada trip happened. I put a taller shield on for that trip (LRS) and my glasses were all of the place. I had to stop at a dealership to buy those ugly fangs...........but found that there was a new style. Threw them on and now I vow never to take them off. Got back home, put my 6 1/2 KW shield back on and WOW---that last tiny bit of buffeting I had was gone.
Sorry. The Captain Tuttle reference was to an old MASH episode. Hawkeye and Trapper invented the character to collect pay to get food and help for the orphanage. A true classic it was.
