Default Twin cam 95 problem

Buddy has a Road King twin cam 88 with a 95 kit in it. The bike was over revved and now there is a loud ticking coming from the top of the engine and oil spews out of the air intake and filter. What could this be?

A costly engine tear down is very likely in his future. Cross you fingers on what is found!

Possible collapsed lifter. If he has adjustable pushrods it would be easy to check.

The oil can be from the lifter too. No oil control at the lifter filling the head with too much oil.

OUCH, I had a friend over rev his bike by missing a gear real hard, it ended up scissoring the crank, and eating the oil pump.

Couple questions for you reserve
Is the noise from front head or rear head or both.
Could it be narrowed dowd with stethoscope or screwdriver.
Would suggest cleaning all oil and try determin which breather it is coming from.
Over revving these bikes have rev limiter. I think you need to step back and try narrow down what's going on. Might be adjustable pushrod came loose. Is there a loss of power, how many miles in BB. What's current oil level, was it recently changed, over filled?
Would not look for something terrible but check all the easy stuff. Maybe pull plugs get bike on lift turn over can you hear noise might help isolate and point you in a direction.
Good luck
