Default Is Hogtunes 24.2 amp worth it?

A buddy gave me his old Hogtunes 24.2 amplifier. Is it worth installing on a 2012 Streetglide? I have the stock head unit with the Harley Boom Audio fairing speaker upgrade. Am I going to get louder, better quality sound using this amp? It has much less power than the newer models.

Thanks

I am running that amp and yes it is an improvement over stock, especially at that price.

I had the Hotunes speakers for a while; I upgraded to 6.5" Polks and the little amp does just fine............or now.

I have Hogtunes Amp and speakers and I def noticed a difference. I can go louder with less distortion. They are nothing to bragg about, but they do the job. I have a buddy who showed me a tip that works........turn the bass down, trebble up and it sounds so much better. He's right!! I was trying to get them to thump (bass) like a car and it aint happening. I have the 70 watt amp....I see a 100 amp now

Mike.....what's the biggest difference with the Polks? I know Polk Audios are great.

If you want good sound you gotta add an amp and replace the speakers, and almost anything imaginable is an improvement. That said, I would not connect a low wattage 2 ohm amp to 4 ohm speakers. If you already have quality 2 ohm speaks, use the gift. Don't know about Boom, but I'd guess they are 2 ohm.

The audio wizards lurk in the audio section.

I believe that the Harley Boom Audio speakers are 2 ohm. It was a night and day difference when I upgraded the speakers to the Harley Boom speakers. I just have a difficult time listening to my classic rock tunes above 70ish. For whatever reason, country music plays much louder.

Better overall sound highs and lows. They are just much cleaner sounding and I can crank the volume way up with no distortion.

I have the MM651 speakers that were all the rage last year, but it seems a bunch of folks have had issues with the glue that holds the tweeter towers giving out; so far mine are fine.
