03 Ultra lost power

03 Ultra lost power

hey... got stuck in Chicago traffic.... stop in go for hour in half at least.. suddenly lost all power.. radio went dead.. all gages.. motor not running. Clicked on off switch while hitting start button... nothing. Get it to side.. do a quick over to make sure nothing noticeable. hit start button.. fires up.. dies immediately at idle. 5 min wait.. start up and get it to an overpass..not running to good. wait 15 minutes... cool off. start it up and go hour n half to 2 hours home.. no more problems. Is there a sensor that senses heat and shuts down? Should I be worried about something?

Maybe loose or corroded connection, all that heat caused increase in resistance. Cooled down problem went away. I would check the connections do the ECM module or the tssm module.

I would be willing to bet that it tripped the main circuit breaker , they are in front of the battery , and when they get hot they can trip. You can help it out by replacing the ring terminal on the silver post with a thicker heavier ring terminal, and make sure it is a 50 amp breaker, because there was a campaign that replaced the 40 with a 50 amp.
