What the others said... a plug gets you home.... I have had a rear blow out year ago. A $150 for a new tire is worth every penny. To plug then to run 75+ on the freeway...no way mate!
I payed extra to get the tire repair with my warrenty
has anyone had a flat and have them fix it? Do they just plug it or
do theyput on anew tire? even if it just a nail hole .
Wow sure seems like people like to waste good tires after one hole, plugs have been around a long time and a inner patch is even better and if that doenst make you comfortable use a tube too or also, so why waste a 220 dollar tire after installation cost? You risk your life on a lot less than a plugged tire every day.
A lot of people will ride a lifetime without ever having a seriousaccident or theft loss. Still, we pay for optional insurance coverages just in case. A new tire is just insurance. Do whatever you are comfortable with.
I got a nail in my rear tire soon after having it replaced. I took it to the indy to have it replaced. They told me I was crazy to replace it. The put a patch with a plug built into it. I ran it until I wore it out. I didn't have any problems with the tire at all....
I would only consider the plug to be a temporary unitl I could get the tire replaced. I had a front tire blow at 70 once. When it comes to tires I don't play.
I agree with dougbk, plugs are not suggested for long term use when it comes to motorcycles...
