have got them all, sporty, dyna and UC. Sporties are great as a bar hopper around town, but nothing beats a touring bike on the road. however, the electraglides certainly aren't as nimble or fun to ride around town as the sporty. Keep up and also get the EG.

I bought a Sporty last year. I bought a Road King three days ago. The RK handles like a dream. I prefer riding it even on short trips. Nothing against the Sporty, it's just my preference.

It's a personal thing whether you will ride the Sporty often enough to make it worth keeping. Whatever it might be worth now it will only be worth less later. My Sporty is for sale.

Best of luck whatever you do.

I kept my sporty and got the road king as a second bike, mainly because of that trade in. To much to eat in a day if you ask me. You will find the touring models to handle beautifully. With the ultra you will notice a high center of gravity. When I got on my Road King to test ride it I nearly dumped her in the lot in front of half my hog chapter (They all came with me to buy the bike) so I would give you this advice, make sure you have a straight line pull away for your test ride. Once you get her moving you will feel the difference but dont be like me and think you can hop on a new bike and make a peg scraping low speed turn in the first 5 feet you have been on it. I recovered it but it will scare the crap out of you the first time you pop her over for a low speed turn. On a sporty you basically are pushing the bike down for your maneuvers, press harder and she will lean a bit more for you. On the big bikes they do all the work for you. Press into that turn just a tad and it just pops down and does a circle for you, very little effort involved!!!! With a little practice tho you will be drawing circles in the pavement with your floorboards, lol.

My daughter has the fuel-injected 883C, and it's a hoot to ride. Lightweight, easy to maneuver, fast, and quick-handling. But long distance highway cruising is not its strong suit. That's where the Electra Glide shines.

Two different beasties for two different purposes, butIMO the Electra Glide adapts to the Sporty's environment better than the Sporty adapts to the Electra Glide's environment.

If it were my decision I'd hold out, pay off the Sporty & keep it, then buy the Glide.
Best of both worlds...

ORIGINAL: jakedog

Just traded my '04 1200r for a '07 FLHT. Although I only have about 25 miles on it, due to the weather, it seems to be easy to handle once moving. It is a bit harder to move around; backup etc.

+1 traded the 07 sporty for an 07 EGC. love it highly recc it. plenty of power just not as "agressive" a ride which is what turned me off on the sporty

I too am the owner of a 1200C and a Road King. These days you literally cant give away a Sportster especially a pre 04. So be it. I own two. If I sold it I could pay off the RK. Somehow I'll pay for the RK and then maybe bob or chop the Sporty. If you can get off the Sportster at a decent price I would let it go, otherwise make space for two bikes.

On Feb. 23rd, I traded in my 2006 883C for the FLHTC. So far, I have put on the bikw 2400+ miles. I love it. I don't miss my Sporty. I have found that the EG Classic easier to control at slower speeds....may be it is the degree, triple tree, or the size of the front tire....I am not sure.

Take a advanced riders course the bagger will doalot more than you think with a lot less effort than you can imagine. I can do tings on my bagger that I wouldent try on a sporty all in what you get use to i guess but that fairing and stereo sure have a wayof spoiling you. I doubt you will regret it most people I know thathavemultiple bikes ride on 1 98% of the time and usualy go out of there way to ride the others.
