Default Help needed removing the tank

Gang, I have a 2012 SG.
I'm following the directions in the attached thread but for the life of me, I can't remove the allen screw on the front of the dash.

Can the tank be removed w/o removing the dash?

What's the best tool (and size) to remove it? Due to its location and size, I can't budge it at all.

Thanks!

I use a long ball Allen to remove the screw up front of the dash. The dash console does need to come off in order to remove the tank.

I use a 5/32 ball end allen. Put your switch into the lock position. Pretty sure you have to take it off.

Edit: Dawg answered while I was checking the allen size.

If you can't wrench-off that little hex screw...time to throw in the towel...

JK, guessing they over-torqued it from factory. Make sure you're turning "lefy-loosey" and have bars turned Left for better access. All it should take is 1/4" rachet w/extension and proper hex bit.

You don't need to remove the dash. Two screws on the frame neck, two screws toward the bottom of the tank. The fuel line is a disconnect similar to air tool. Then one little molex connector. Just make sure the tank doesn't have any pressure in it.

Just skip past the first five pictures in the thread you provided the link. Also why you removing the tank to begin with?

You can technically unhook the molex connector at the other end toward the battery and the vent line at the other end too, but it is much easier to remove it under the dash, thereby removing the console.

If that screw is rusted spray some PB Blaster on it and wait 30 min and it will come free

Really no need to take off the dash to remove the tank. Unhooking the molex connector at the battery is no problem. It's right there.

This is why I love you guys...

I was trying to get to the screw using my mini teardrop wrench. Home Depot is less than 2 minutes from my house so first thing in the AM, I'll run over there for a long ball allen.
(Heck, I might as well stock up on charcoal; mulch and attic insulation while I'm there)

Thanks again!
