Default Lost Fob 2010 FLHX- need help quick

Ok- lost my key ring with all my fobs including my HD fob for my 2010 FLHX. I only had the one fob as I bought it privately. I'm still in touch with the previous owner but he is unsure of the 5digit pin code. Am I screwed? Am I trailering it to my local dealer?

Quick help would be much appreciated.

Does the previous owner know if he actually changed the default code from H-D to a personal version? Doing a quick Google comes up with "You CANNOT reset the code without the fob, no matter which security system it is. If you do not have the fob only an authorized H-D dealership will have the appropriate hardware and software to assign new fobs (which you must pay for) and unlock your security system."

Checking out the H-D website, I can't find any reference to changing the security code without the FOB or current security code. Makes sense, or people could steal your bike and then reset it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this subject can give you more information.

In case it was never changed from the factory... try " 1 2 3 4 5 ". Good luck

Ya you are probably screwed.

BTW

Contrary to popular belief there is no default PIN
Some dealers use the last 5 of the VIN
Some use 12345
Mine uses their dealer code.

Things I don't understand.

Why didn't you change the pin while you had a fob.
What does buying it privately have to do with having only one fob.
Why didn't you get a second key and fob.

How can that be? There has to be a default code from the factory, or that would mean they are shipped with no security at all unless the dealer sets it.

Because I didn't? Sorry to have offended you so.

JYKelly, did you get it running. See the attached procedure in case you don't know how. Try the " 1 2 3 4 5 " code good luck

previous procedure I gave was wrong. Try this one.
Disarming with a PIN

Disarm the security system manually using the PIN if the fob is lost, the fob battery is discharged or if where you parked there is a strong electromagnetic interference.

Do not turn handlebars, straddle seat or lift motorcycle off the jiffy stand. During a PIN disarm, if the security system detects motorcycle motion the system will activate the alarm.

Entering a PIN to Disarm Harley-Davidson Smart Security System

STEP

NO.

ACTION

WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION

NOTES

1

If necessary, verify the current 5-digit PIN.

Should be recorded on wallet card.

2

Turn ignition to IGN.

If armed, the odometer window display will read: ENTER PIN and the security lamp will be flashing at a fast rate. The headlight will not be on.

3

Press and release the left turn signal switch.

In the odometer window, a flashing 1 will appear.

4

Increment the digit by tapping the left turn signal until the odometer window displays the first digit of the PIN.

The first digit in the odometer will be the first digit in the PIN.

5

Press right turn switch 1 time.

The first digit is stored and the next digit will flash.

Serves as enter key.

6

Increment the second digit using the left turn switch until the digit reaches the second digit of the PIN.

The second digit in the odometer will be the second digit in the PIN.

7

Press right turn switch 1 time.

The second digit is stored and the next dash will flash.

Serves as enter key.

8

Increment the third digit using the left turn switch until it reaches the third digit of the PIN.

The third digit (c) in the odometer will be the third digit in the PIN.

9

Press right turn switch 1 time.

The third digit is stored and the next dash will flash.

Serves as enter key.

10

Increment the fourth digit using the left turn switch until it reaches the fourth digit of the PIN.

The fourth digit (d) in the odometer will be the fourth digit in the PIN.

11

Press right turn switch 1 time.

The fourth digit is stored and the next dash will flash.

Serves as enter key.

12

Increment the fifth digit using the left turn switch until it reaches the fifth digit of the PIN.

The fifth digit (e) in the odometer will be the fifth digit in the PIN.

13

Press right turn switch 1 time.

The fifth digit is stored. The security system indicator lamp stops blinking.

Smart Security System is disarmed.

NOTES:
If a mistake is made while entering PIN, turn the ignition Switch to OFF before entering the last digit and then start the procedure from the beginning.
If the procedure fails to disarm the security system, wait two minutes before attempting another PIN disarm.
The security system will remain disarmed until the ignition is turned to OFF.
At any time during a PIN disarm if the fob is brought within range of the motorcycle, the security system will disarm as the module receives the coded signal from the fob.

Security is setup by the dealer as part of the pre-delivery set-up

This the text is from that section

"Set-Up and Pre-Delivery Process
During Set-Up, the technician will need to use Digital Technician to assign the Hands Free
Fobs. The new bar code reader should be used to enter the 24 character number from the
bar code on the fob. Once assigned, the fobs should be tested immediately using Digital
Technician. The fobs have to be assigned and the PIN must be assigned to enable the
system. It doesn’t matter what order this is done in. Since the system is self-arming, it is
absolutely important that the customer has the PIN and knows what to do (keep card) in the event that the fob is lost or misplaced. "
