Hitch - Remove or Keep?
i've a dodge that i use for trailers... and yes i've had the rear end rebuilt.. just last nite i broke a rear shock pulling a trailer.. going to replace them today.. as with anything it gets used things will break. truck overloaded? nope. just well used. but can't say i wouldn't buy one without a hitch..
i'd think a bike with a drive belt too tight would be worse for wear than one with it good and proper pulling a trailer.
but some folks like being cautious... not knocking you.. just found the thought of buying a truck without a hitch strange... tells me it's been prepped to tow. along with electronic brake controller and suspension upgrades it's all good. on the other hand a truck with a ball on the bumper or the knock out for the ball removed on a stock bumper make me nervous as all get out.. tells me the last guy who had it didn't prep things.
me buying a truck means i'm looking for one with the hitch etc..
know a guy who was afraid to put a household refrigerator in his truck..thought it would be too much and it was less than 200 lbs.. kinda wondered why he had a truck...
carry on.. it's all good
I always thought it was stupid to pull a trailer with a bike, now I am thinking it opens some pretty fun doors.
For fun jut to blow minds by pulling up to a buddies house with a trailer.
Taking my kayak somewhere fun to go paddling.
A small trailer for luxury camping trips.
When I see another bike trailer for sale so cheap it is silly I would buy it and try it. Recently had a few locally pop up for just a couple hundred, could have resold for couple grand maybe=profit and had the opportunity to try them.
Also provided a great place to mount a flag for PGR missions.
You should remove it and send to me immediately

Seriously I would be interested..
Both my trucks have Reese hitch and electric brake setups on them. The F-250 also has a gooseneck ball for pulling the stock trailer. I bought them to work with.

If you would never use it for anything I would remove it. If the wiring is done correctly it isn't a problem to remove.
As far as a truck, as long as it has the Tow package, and you don't tow in OD, and stay within proper limits, a truck should do fine with it, in the Midwest. If I lived in the mountains, I could see being concerned.
Most trucks these days have such short beds, all they are good for is towing.
There are also tiny little trays you can put on there and place a pile of dirty clothes or something less than 30# worth on it.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders

Not the only damage, just the worst. Like this when I bought it, I've never pulled a trailer, don't want to. And that hitch is heavy, though you don't notice it on a Tour Glide. Way the one I had was mounted, I'd say the hitch alone was more than the parts it attached to could handle for long.
