Default brake bleeding

hi was hoping to get some help.I bought a vacuum pump and was going to bleed the rear brakes as i had to change a brake switch i have the pump connected by hose to collection container and the other hose from container going to bleeder on caliper.I took of the top of the rear master cylinder pump the vacuum pump till i had a 15 psi the cracked opend the bleeder valve and its not drawing out any brake fluid what am i doing wrong?Thanks in advance

If you have a combo vacuum and pressure pump, make sure you have it set to "vacuum". Otherwise you're pushing out 15 psi of air instead of sucking it in.

Its one of those metal pumps from harbor freight there is no setting to change from pump to vacuum

You sure you dont have it hooked up backwards? Look under the lid on how the tube and fluid enters the containor, I suspect your trying to suck all the air out of the container, fluid will not come out that way. What I do is pump out the mc, clean with denatured alcohol fill reservoir with new CORRECT fluid, then hook up and evacuate through the bleeder screw. When you see the new fluid come out the tube youre done, just be careful not to let the mc get too low, keep it full.

there is a 3 inch hose inside the collector container on the side that goes to the caliper that what is shows in directions

I tried the vacuum thing and it was crap - never could get a good seal. I ended up buying a pair of speedbleeders with the hose and bag. Much easier and well worth the money.
