So can anyone tell me,why so many posts for items already sold have not been removed? Just seems like a real big waste of time to be browsing the for sale section and it seems like every other thread I click onto, the items have already been sold, but the thread is still there.

It's like the $5 movie bargain bin... all the movies nobody wants are at the top and you have to dig through to get the good ones at the bottom... but on the other hand..

Myself being a forum mod elsewhere, I was in control of the For Sale board, keep in mind most mod's, well all the ones I know at least, don't get paid and do this when they have free time; many of us still have jobs and families in our other lives. It's not as easy as one may think to keep these boards cleaned up... we tried it all, change the subject to sold, press the report button when sold, even given members the permissions to delete their own posts, but it all came back to someone asking why we didn't keep the board clean of all the "sold" items...

In the end we changed the settings to remove any post that were 30 days old regardless if the items sold or not... that free'd up a lot of time for us to monitor the other boards for misuse, etc etc etc, and gave us time to enjoy the forum as well...

HDForum crew you are doing a great job... thanks for your services makes the time here in Iraq go by must faster... well at least it seams that way LOL

I find that leaving items listed, even when sold, can give me a better idea of the average price of things.

Most people edit the post to reflect no price. Maybe not everyone cleans it up 100%. Kinda like people who leave Garage Sale signs posted i nthe neighborhood after the weekend is gone.

When I do it, I usually delete everything in the description and just type in "SOLD".
I thin kit would better clean everything up if we had the ability to delete the entire post. It would just clean everything up and be easier to find out what's still for sale. Or another good idea was to just make everything drop off after 30 days.

Also another reason to leave the item listed. In case there is a problem with the transaction. The listing is still there to refer back to as to exactly what the listing states.

I know on another forum I frequent, there has been cases where the buyer thought the item he recieved was the item the seller was had advertised.

One trick I've learned is that you can hover your mouse over the link without clicking it, and it gives you the first line or two of text in the ad...therefore, if a person adds the word SOLD to the first line, you can see that before you even click the link.

So now if I ever sell something I make sure to edit the ad's first line to say SOLD to save people some time.
