Guys, My sincere apologies but the fault is mine. I was (I believe) second in line and offered the $115 for the HB if whocares didn't take it. I am the one who violated the unspoken protocol of this forum.
My wife rides a softail and I am currently building an Evo so I have been purchasing in other forums as well as eBay to keep my build going. Trust me, the other forums DO NOT HAVE the integrity and caliber of people that this touring forum does. Recently, on the softail forum I made an offer on some parts and got cussed out because the offer was perceived as being too low even though the seller was requesting offers only. Again, this forum operates quite differently from the others.
I realized I violated protocol immediately after I made the offer but, once made, I couldn't back out and I completed the transaction. I then sent whocares a PM explaining what happened and offered it to him at the original price. He is a helluva nice guy and excepted my apology (as I hope ya'll will).
If you'll look at rose's post count you'll see that he is a newby and maybe even his first sale here so the blame goes to me not him.....I knew better.
I always try to do the right thing and this time I failed. If anyone feels slighted please just let me know and I'll ship the HB out the day I receive it for the original asking price.
Folks....I feel really bad about this experience and hope you will accept my apology.
And yes, I do realize I will have to change my name and move to Brazil.
Thanks all and sorry.
-Carl

At least you are taking responibility and not trying to slide by with a lame excuse as to why you did what you did. Makes a big difference in my book to admit you screwed up! And to then offer it to first in line for the $100. Things would have been different for Rose had they done the same. Good on you Carl!

Colin, Thanks but I'm not feeling very stand up about this. You and I know more than most how we must live our lives to see who's waiting on the other side.
I have PM'ed riteway and let BrownSanta know that the item is his if riteway doesn't take it.
If neither of them take it this thread will be resurrected with the HB as soon as I receive it.......for the $100 price. Every time I saw it on my bike I'd feel like a scum bag. I'm not doing anything special just trying to ease my conscience.
Rose is who I feel really bad for....I got him into this and he took the heat. Fifteen bucks is a helluva lot more money to some than others.
Anyway....it is what it is. All I can do is try and make it right.
Thanks,
-Carl

To all that have been watching this thread,I just got a very nice P.M. from Carl.I basically told him i think he should keep it!! He took the time to tell us his side and that was something he dint have to do but he wanted to get it off his chest. Its not his fault that he won.Rose owned it and could sell it to whoever he wanted to.1st 2nd 3rd or no one at all!! He did have it listed on C-list so some guy could of shown up at his door and Rose could of sold it that way.
I was just pissed at the way Rose went about this whole deal,as i stated in my first post...

I think it's great you (Carl) are clearing the air.
I just today had a very similar (on craigslist) experience.
Corresponded, asked for final price, got price accepted, then silence.
Now it seems someone else contacted and the owner after our "deal" and now the ad is gone with no phone or email messages returned.
Just because it's done within the anonymity of the internet does not mean we can do these things/treat people any way one chooses.
Again, karma can be a bitch.
Carl seems to be a guy that understands this and is responsible for his actions. If you're ever out this way I'll buy you a cold drink.
