Default Stock paper A/C filter any good?

Just bought a breather kit from DK. While watching the video on installation I got to thinking about the stock paper filter and if there was any advantage to changing it out? Are the replacements better and or do they allow more air flow?

So I shouldn't change the filter out for a K&N because that will make it even more lean? Wait until I am ready to add a tuner?

M8's do Not have the lean problem that Twin Cams have. They are Not too lean in factory tune, Plus you can add a free flowing air cleaner to them and the ECM will adjust so they are not running too lean.

There is a Report on this subject, with AFR readings at this LINK.

That said, a M8 will run better with an optimized tune, But it is not dangerously lean like the Twin Cams, so there is no problem going with a free flowing air cleaner without changing the tune.

When looking at a Free Flowing air cleaner, there is more to it than changing out the filter element. Many folks put a filter element in their air cleaner, then go on and report that they saw little to no performance improvement. That is because there are 4 factors that are equally important in the differences between an chocked OEM set up and a True Performance air cleaner.

1. Free flowing filter element
2. EBS..only clean, cool, oxygen rich air going in
3. Get rid of the EPA conforming HOT Box that the filter is sitting in
4. What happens with the air AFTER it goes thru the filter element. The internal design of the air cleaner can significantly affect HOW the air flows, AFTER passing thru the filter element. It should flow quickly with the least turbulence.

Below is a video that talks about some of the above-

I ordered the EBS system from you it should arrive this coming Tuesday. That led me to ask about the filter element. I like the stock A/C cover and would like to keep that look. I have 9 months left on my warranty and am not ready yet to add a tuner.

Here's a photo of a Performance air cleaner that does not need a tuner and utilizes the stock cover-

More photo's & details of this air cleaner at this LINK

Give the shop a call or email about it to get an adjustment, since you already have a breather system.
