Compression Release Code
We were on a 2600 mile trip to Monument Valley Utah a week ago when I had the check engine light come on. (2021 M8, Stage II, 22k miles) I determined that the code thrown was P1655c indicating a fault in the Automatic Compression Release(s) (ACR). Being a very long way from any dealership to have the bike checked, I rode the rest of the trip (about 1000 miles) home with no issues.
I took the bike to my dealer when I returned home and they discovered the ACR connection at the top of the motor was disconnected. I have not done any work under there, never removed the tank myself, or in anyway I can think of caused the connection to come apart. They plugged the ACR connection together and I was good to go.
I mention all this because if it can happen to me it can happen to you. If I had known where to look, I probably could have reconnected it myself. The connection is visible under the tank and I think I could have reached it. Also, the bike did run fine; it's only upon start up that the ACR is open.
Probably just another thing to check after someone does work on your bike. I assume a mechanic did not connect the clip securely and it wiggled loose.
Like I said, just FYI.
