I've been thinking it would be nice to have power steering on the TriGlide. I know there are Electronic Power Steering systems on some cages as well as ATV's such as Honda and Yamaha. The true EPS systems don't use hydraulics at all so the size and mess may be something that can be worked with.

I would be interested in what forum members think and do you know of anyone who has tried successfully to install PS.

This sucky weather in Ohio needs to go away so I can ride and not think about things like PS.

I suppose you could replace the steering damper with a rack & pinion style unit with an electric motor for a power steering. Something along the line of the electric motor controlled position units on the big satallite dishes might work.

Thing is I don't believe enough people would want them to warrant the R&D and production cost. Case in point we went without aftermarket headpipes for the Tri for several months until ther was a demand for them. Then it was just a simple cross pipe addon for some pipes that were already made for the Ultra's. You are talking about developing a power steering unit for the Tri that I just don't think they would be a demand for. I think it steers easy enough and like to feel the road, full power steering would be dangerous. A 40% assist unit might be workable but then again, don't believe there would be a demand for the aftermarket product.

I totally agree! IMO, power steering is completely unnecessary.

I was under the impression that raking the TriGlide was adding power streering.

The TG is raked of course from the factory, if it wasnt you would know it.
When i added the hack to my RK and the Frankenstein trike rearend to my Dyna i road both befor adding 5 degrees more rake to each. Very hard to steer without the extra rake and low speed front wobble. Easy to steer and no wobble with rake.

Good comments by all. There are ways to put feel into a system that increases assist at low speeds and less assit at higher speeds. One concern would be; will the Harley alternator put out enough to run a one kilowat electric motor.

I agree the Tri steers fairly easy if you are riding straight ahead or only ride roads that have very few tighter turns. But, riding the triple nickle or the hocking hills in BFE Ohio as well as many other areas like the BRP work you pretty good.

There probably isn't enough desire for development but I think it's an interesting topic for discussion.
