I am on duty tomorrow at fire house. I am taking bike in and I am going to change out the head pipes there.
Going the "fugal" route as far as pipes and the added bonus is I will be on payroll while I change them!!!!!!!
Saturdays at fire house are no training days, no heavy cleanup and such. Just the fire and EMS runs. So over a 24 hour shift, I should be able to get it done. If not, I will be back there Monday.
When done, I can fire it up in truck room and let someone driving by think the fire house is on fire.
Counting the days till retirement!

Mr. Frugal Ole Buddy, have you purchased the Diet Root Beer yet? Times running out.
Been saving empties for cash, just about got enough to get the good stuff! "A&W" no Big K brand for us! I will hit the nearest Sam's Club when it's on sale. Buying in volume can be a little inconvienient but I should have somewhere to store 10 cases, I just hope it don't go flat on me before I can drink it all!
I am at fire house, taking off pipes now.
I also have a can of A&W in refregarator. When I am done, I will have a toast to all frugal folks of the world.

Well the "frugal" head pipes are on. I had a set of SE mufflers from an 05 Road Glide I put on. Now with no CAT, too loud for my taste. Put stock mufflers back on. They sound allot better now that the CAT is gone. Harley sure could make the back four bolts that hold the mufflers on a lot easyer to install!!?? PIA
I have fired it up twice and yes, it filled the apparatus room up with smoke and smell. I am going to relax a bit in A/C then reheat and rechech head bolts. I have had to leave my upper heat shelds off as you can not get to head bolts with them on. Will ride home in morning, recheck bolts and put on the two heat shelds.
I took some pictures of the "burn off" of pipes. Will post after I have chance to ride tomorrow along with my impression of cool down if any.

PS: Root Beer was good!

I actually had to take the SE's off also, I lost a little low end Grunt. I went back to stock and they sound prety good with the cat material removed! The throttle response seemed a little sharper also. I went with a K&N replacement filter and the combo seems adequate with the new gearing. I think I'm done. I would actually like to do the Tripple Nickel Cams and the Fuel Motto with stage I but there is nowhere local I can get the thing tuned. I can live with what I got for awhile!

I have no idea if I lost any torque when I put the 4" SE mufflers on as I had never rode it with the stock mufflers on it. I can certainly tell you I am very pleased with the way it performs now. I have no desire to change back to stock mufflers as I would need to get it tuned again.
