Bubba, maybe you should ask IronHorsePilot where she gets her service work done. It might be a better dealer (or the same one! )

Bubba49, I get my work done at Rocky Mount HD. I have never had a problem with them.

Thanks much, but 153 miles is too far to drive for service. By the time I'd get there and back I would have blown a whole day. I think I'm gonna buy a service manual and start wrenching on it myself (then I would know who to blame for poor service). I'm only going to take it to a dealer for warranty work.

Default body lean

Leveling the body is not a hard or complicated job, once the body is removed ( which is simple ) two guys can easily lift it off, it is a very straight foreward project , no rocket science involved. Don't be afraid of this job if you have any mechanical ability, a few tools and a friend you should be good to go. Besides if you do it yourself ypu can get it perfect where a dealer will probably get it close enough ! ! !

LOL! I use that to my advantage. We take bikes in to be serviced, eat a good meal out and spend the night at the motel behind the dealership. Great excuse to get outta dodge for a few.

We had the same problem--the Dealer fix was to unbolt the body from the frame and re-align it--that worked.

I'm truly astounded! You guys must have some real crap dealers back there. I have bought 2 trikes from the same dealer. I would never take delivery of a $40,000 dollar motorcycle, or car if it leaned 3/4 of an inch to one side. AND our dealer out here would never think of delivering a $40,000 motorcycle that wasn't 100%. I'm hearing stories on this board of pan bolts loose and leaking, reverse motors falling off, lots of stuff that should have been found in pre-delivery inspections. You can bet your *** if something is wrong with my $40,000 'toy' it is going right back to the dealer, get recorded, and fixed. Here in California they have a Lemon Law. 4th time back and they buy it back+ punitive damages. If you keep fixing it yourself, you are stuck with it.

We have two OUTSTANDING dealers we have used. Neither are the closest, but they are honest and do great work. NOTHING is done without a writeup, no paper, no audit trail.

For what we are all paying for these "toys", could have bought a couple of Japanese or Korean cars. Don't let the MoCo screw with you, or worse yet the dealer!

Good Luck!

Heck when my dad and I started working on his Triglide which only had 6 miles on it we found several things loose. Both the left and right muffler clamps were only finger tight, the clamps for both fork tubes on the tripple tree where only snugged, not torqued to their spec, the top bolts which go through the top of the tree and into the fork cap were hand tight. As crummy as the dealer who sold my dad the trike is I wouldn't have expected a dealer to find those problems. Some of the other stuff like you mentioned a dealer should catch.

A good deal of the problem lies with poor quality control at Harley Davidson and for the 09 - 10's Lehman had a piece of the poor QC also. Harley is starting to buy their parts from the cheapest supplier, which isn't a good thing.

I couldn't agree with you more. The MOCO does shoddy work and the dealer charges for pre delivery set up which they don't do. Your lucky if you get it washed before delivery. We do have an excellent dealer around here but they are 95 miles away. I took my trike to them a couple weeks ago to replace the front wheel bearings and the work and they way I was treated couldn't have been any better. The dealer where I bought my trike is only 27 miles away but I wouldn't trust them to check the air in my tires.

At one time my selling dealer was an excellent place to go but they have changed hands. The service manager doesn't know his a## from a hole in the ground. I could tell you about some real horror stories about that dealer. Before we parted ways I had purchased 4 bikes up there and so did M3.

Wow, such diverse comments about dealers. But I guess that is common, even with automobile dealers. My HD dealer is 90 miles away and they have been very good. When they delivered by TG, it was all set up and they even were concerned with two scratches on it. The one, on the gas cover I was replacing the chrome dome anyway. The other was by the trunk lock and they said it would take a few sessions to fix, buffing, painting, buffing, painting. Heck, I can hardly see the scratch, so I told them forget it. I wasn't happy with my gear shifter position, so they adjusted it to my taste before I took the TG home. I did catch some metal in my rear brakes at about 200 miles, which they picked up the TG, replaced rotors and brake pads both sides and delivered it back to my house. They made it a warranty issue...shhhhhh....don't tell MoCo. But it has been smooth since. Nothing has come loose. All I've done was adjust my clutch cable, which is normal with a new bike.

So I guess I'm glad I have a good dealer.
