This has happened a few times now and was wondering if anyone else
may have or having this problem.
every so often when I put the trike in reverse, while backing up the engine will die, restart the engine everything is fine.
It does not do this all the time, only 4 or 5 times in the last month.
does any one know what could be going on.
2010 T.G.
thanks
dan
My 09 TG and my 11 SG did it several times. What I've since figured out is it doesn't do it if you give/keep a bit of throttle on while using the reverse. Don't know if it's pulling to much voltage or what, but extra throttle seems to do the trick. Now that you mentined it I'm going to go home and read the owners manual and see what it says.

i read the owners manual, it only said to put the bike in nuetral and hit the reverse switch. I too beleive you are correct on giving it more throttle, as the engine does
idel way down when you go in reverse.
I'll try giving it more throttle and see what happens.
thanks

I've noticed on my 2010 that when I engage reverse, without manual throttle, the ECM will compensate by increasing throttle to increase charging rate.
Hope I explained that right -- I'm not awake yet!
Mine has never died, yet...but I have noticed the ECM automatically adjusts in reverse, especially when I back up on the slope on my driveway. So I don't touch the throttle. I have noticed my volts drop down to 10 in reverse, so it takes a toll on the battery.
I'm using my battery tender every other weekend now to make sure I have enough juice in the battery to handle the reverse motor.

Never had a problem with mine shutting off. I have a friend with an '11 Tri and when he puts it in reverse, it shuts his radio off. All he can figure is too much draw on the battery

'Bout a year ago somebody with a new SG TG had a similar problem where the radio would come on when he (his wife's trike) went into reverse. Ended up being a crimped wire in the control harness.
